Himeji castle is also known as White Heron Castle because of its brilliant white exterior. It dates to 1333, when Akamatsu Norimura built a fort on top of Himeyama hill. It is the largest and most visited castle in Japan.
Himeji Castle is UNESCO World Heritage Site
and Number 60 in my 100 Wonders Of The World list.
